Local Roots
About This Spot
Stepping into Local Roots in Powell feels like being welcomed into a familiar gathering spot where the day’s pace slows just enough to savor the moment. The space effortlessly blends the warmth of a family restaurant with the hum of an inviting live music venue and the friendly buzz of a local bar. Whether you’re settling in for a casual meal, celebrating with friends in the banquet hall, or enjoying a lively evening with a craft cocktail in hand, there’s a comforting rhythm to the atmosphere here.
This is a place where the menu is a thoughtfully woven extension of the community itself — local ingredients layered into dishes that feel both vibrant and grounded. You might find yourself drawn to the earthy sweetness of the sweet potato pasta, the rich balance of smoky jams alongside tender lamb, or the crisp freshness of a well-crafted pizza that somehow still manages to feel like home. Sharing small bites like chipotle hummus or warm pretzel rolls with cheese dip becomes an occasion for connection, as the flavors spark conversation and easy smiles.
The kitchen invites a relaxed exploration through a menu that honors the season and the landscape around it. It’s no surprise that familiar favorites come with unexpected touches — whether it’s a side of elderberry syrup or a fresh twist on avocado toast, there’s a sense of discovery in every plate. The service, attentive yet unhurried, mirrors the welcoming vibe of the place, where new friendships blossom alongside long-standing local love.
Evenings here carry a subtle buzz, with live music weaving through the clinks of glassware and soft chatter, inviting guests to linger beyond the last bite. For celebrations and community gatherings, the banquet hall offers a private nook that retains the approachable spirit of the restaurant while providing a space for shared moments to unfold.
Local Roots feels less like a stop on the way and more like a destination — a spot where thoughtful, local flavors meet a genuine sense of place and people. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you, long after the last forkful.

My favorite dine-in option in Powell, with quality foods made from locally sourced materials. My personal favorite, the Lemon Chicken with baked potatoes and a side of sweet potato fries. Recommend calling ahead to reserve seating, especially on busy afternoons and weekends!

This restaurant is a refreshing escape — the food is colorful, natural, and full of life. The pizza, with its crisp base and generous fresh toppings, captures a perfect balance of flavor and vibe. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience worth coming back for. Simply put — a wholesome, refreshing foodgasm.

Great local restaurant, farm to table restaurant, with a full bar and a short, mostly domestic wine list. The Lamb Lollipops melt in the mouth, but are unseasoned; try them with the included slightly sweet, with a hint of smoke jam. The salads are excellent, including the Caesar and the Kitchen Sink, try them with grilled chicken. The Caesar has a little bite. Service was excellent; the kitchen is a little slow. The Carrot Cake is very good too, we just wish it was served warm.

We were starving and happened upon this spot. Grace was our server and she was great! Our food tasted amazing. The pretzel rolls and cheese dip were great. Definitely check it out

Went here a few months ago and forgot to leave a review. Service was pretty slow, but very friendly. The dishes were very good. I had never had beets with salmon but it was delicious and the salmon was cooked perfectly. I bought some elderberry syrup as well!

The salmon with steamed beets and blanched kale was absolutely delicious and made my tummy happy! They also offer a variety of dressings for the salmon — I skipped the maple balsamic one since it would make the fish sweet, and I personally don’t like mixing maple sweetness with my protein. The veggie pizza with cauliflower crust was loaded with fresh vegetables and topped with plenty of fresh Parmesan cheese — I really enjoyed it too. The restaurant has lovely patio seating that’s perfect for the evening, and the ambience is great. Their farm-to-table concept truly justifies the slightly higher prices.
